Dumont has many beautiful parks and playing fields that are available for recreational use.  It also has the Ryan Caspare Pavilion, located in Memorial Park that has been host to many birthday parties, family reunions, scouting troop meetings and recreation team parties.  Permit applications for the use of both the playing fields and the Pavilion can found in the link below along with the fees and rules for their use in the accompanying Policies and Procedures.  In addition, a Hold Harmless Agreement is required, which can also be found in the link below.

Coaching Requirements for Dumont Recreation: Coaches Certification & Background Check

It is the policy of the Dumont Recreation Commission that all coaches attend a certification course and if over the age of 18 have a background check done in order to coach. The coach's certification class is a one time requirement (for coaches 18+) and represents certification within the Borough of Dumont. The certification course is mandatory and does not preclude anyone who has coached at any other level, including high school, college or university or even a professional level.

You must be 18 years of age to coach or be an assistant coach in any sport or activity within the borough. Anyone under the age of 18 may help a coach but is not considered a head coach or an assistant coach and should not be given the responsibility of a coach. Anyone under the age of 18 who works helping a coach or in an other capacity for a coach must be certified regardless of their age. (To attend the Minors Under the Age of 18 Course)

Fingerprinting: As of March 15, 2008, the State will only accept live scan fingerprints done through Sagem Morpho, Inc. Fingerprinting is done by appointment only. Appointments can be done via the web at www.bioapplicant.com/nj, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. If you have no web access, appointments can be made by calling toll free 877-503-5981 Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to noon. Please note the cost for fingerprinting is $29.00.

Please read through all copies of the forms that will be distributed at the course for further information. Please make sure if you are registering online that you list as your Employer Name, DUMONT RECREATION, address 50 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628 and your occupation as COACH. If you put your employer's information in this location all fingerprint results will be sent your present employer. Only after you have been fingerprinted will a Certification Course Card be issued to you. You can either by mail or bring a copy of your paid receipt from Sagem showing you were fingerprinted or when the results have been sent to the Recreation Office a card will be mailed to you.

Minors will be listed in the database as being certified. Upon reaching the age of 18, if you still wish to participate in the recreations programs in the capacity of coach, etc., you will need to attend the Adult Certification Course and submit the the Background Check as outlined above.
