Here in the Borough of Dumont, we pride ourselves on being a community robust with events and recreational activities. It goes without saying that the past sixteen months have been extremely difficult. We saw our borough, state, and country grind to a halt, and faced unprecedented isolation. Lately, however, we have seen progress, including our own recreational programs and public spaces coming back to life. For many of us, this has been a much-needed beacon of hope that we are finally returning to normal.

As we continue to move forward, I am very pleased to announce several community events planned for the month of July. First, sponsored by the Dumont Community Group, we are proud to once again present Movies in the Park! The Dumont Community Group will be hosting three movie nights on the Babe Ruth Field at Veterans Memorial Park. Mark your calendars! The dates and showings are as follows:

  • SCOOB! JULY 8 8:15 PM - RAIN DATE JULY 9
  • TOY STORY 4 JULY 15 8:15 PM - RAIN DATE JULY 16
  • SOUL JULY 22 8:15 PM - RAIN DATE JULY 23

Another exciting announcement: The Borough of Dumont is proud to present Rock the Block! Rock the Block is a series of block parties throughout the borough. Our goal is to help get our residents outside and together again, as one big borough family, while having a BLAST! Our Rock the Block events will feature a DJ, free rides and games for children, and food vendors who will offer a variety of food for purchase. Think block party meets street fair!  As always, we kindly ask that you walk to community events where possible, and please be mindful of our neighbors if parking on the street. Our Rock the Block events are as follows:

  • JULY 10 1PM-4PM PARK AVE (SOROSIS PARK) RAIN DATE JULY 11
  • JULY 17 1PM-4PM BEDFORD RD (BEDFORD FIELD) RAIN DATE JULY 18
  • JULY 24 1PM-4PM GRANT AVE (BTW WASHINGTON & OXFORD) RAIN DATE JULY 25

And last but not least in our community events announcement: The Dumont Shade Tree Commission is hosting weekly concerts at their Twilight at the Gazebo series! These events are a beautiful celebration of the arts right here in Dumont. Dates are as follows:

  • JULY 7 7:30PM - 9:00PM
  • JULY 14 7:30PM - 9:00PM
  • JULY 21 7:30PM - 9:00PM
  • JULY 28 7:30PM - 9:00PM

Please see event flyers for details, and again, mark your calendars!

The Borough of Dumont, the Members of Council, and I cannot wait to see you. We look forward to coming together to celebrate our great town and each other. It's going to be an AMAZING summer in the borough!
