The Hackensack Watershed and a Healthy Forest

The Dumont Shade Tree Commission is honored to host Hackensack Riverkeeper Bill Sheehan at our 2017 DSTC seminar. It is fitting and appropriate in the 20th anniversary year of the Hackensack Riverkeeper organization that Captain Bill comes to Dumont to talk about the pressures facing the watershed what can be done to ensure a healthy and thriving community. Please join us for a lively and informative presentation from the foremost advocate for the Hackensack River Watershed of which Dumont is a vital part. Bill will discuss his work in the Riverkeeper organization, the great strides that have been made from its inception 20 years ago, and the challenges we face as we enter a new political era. Bill will discuss the role trees play in protection of the watershed and how proper management of this vital resource is one of the most important components of a healthy ecosystem.
Join us at the Dumont Senior Center, 39 Dumont Avenue, at 7:30pm on March 6th 2017. The event is free to the community. Coffee and refreshments.

Notices of Determination in Zamechansky Case

By Notice of Dermination contained in a letter dated January 11, 2017 the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs regarding Local Government Ethics Law Complaint #LFB-16-015 was dismissed and now closed against former Councilwoman Ellen Zamechansky.  The investigation of Ellen Zamechansky by the County Prosecutor has also found that there is no basis for criminal action.

2017 Parking Permits

Parking Permits for Residents and Non-residents-Borough of Dumont
    Applications for 2017 commuter parking permits for municipal parking in the Brook Street Parking Lot, West Shore Avenue section 2-5, and W. Quackenbush Avenue (north side-125 feet west of Park Avenue)   will be available to Dumont residents, non-residents and business owners on a first come, first-served basis December 19, 2016.  Permits may be obtained at the Borough Clerk’s office, 80 W. Madison Avenue, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Please note that this does not include overnight parking.
    The fee is $120 per calendar year for residents and $180 per calendar year for non-residents; there is one hanger permit per household.  Applicants must bring a copy of the driver’s license and registration for the car to be used.  No copies will be made at Borough Hall-no exceptions.  Please click on the below link for a parking permit application form.  If you need additional information, please call 201-387-5023.
